Year 6 Formal

This Rose, no. 2 child. I took about 3 hours to persuade her that a knitted dress could be elegant enough for her primary school formal. She was imagining a '70s orange and brown baby doll dress, or a frilly pink concoction.
After going through various Vogue Knitting, and other, magazines, we settled on a basic outline. I used a few of the basic structure ideas such as the lightly flared skirt, lower waist line, decolletage, and negative ease bodice. Using a dark blue Zhivago yarn (tencel fibre), the skirt is stocking stitch, the bodice is 1*1 twisted rib. The belt is also twisted rib, and I sewed on about 320 Swavorski crystals! The edges were all knitted around with a feather yarn. She wore the same shoes that I wore to one of my formals.
Rose felt fabulous and looked wonderful, and really sparkled when standing under the lights, giving her school captains speech <3
