A New Skill

Not long after the show in April 2009, I traveled to England to see my paternal grandmother for her 95th birthday. Sadly, she passed away a month before the trip, and I went for the memorial events.
While staying at a family friends place, my brother took me across the road to visit the Exeter Spinners and Weavers guild monthly meeting. It reminded me of my mothers spinning, and that I had wanted to try to make my own yarn.
On my return home, I started looking for a local group or guild. I happened to walk into a craft shop one day, and the Ipswich Spinners were having a demo day there! So, I canceled the rest of the days plans, and chatted, and got details.
The next week I braved the trip (I was not confident, then, of driving in new places), and joined the group. Such a lovely welcoming group- and still are. Lynda gave me my first lesson in how to use a wheel. I was allowed to borrow an Ashford traditional, and given some fleece. I had some at home from the visit to Exeter Spinners. The next week I came back with 11 skeins!!! I was hooked, and happy
